When selling print-on-demand products, you don't have to worry about purchasing large amounts of inventory and risking your money. As I always tell the entrepreneurs I advise, it is no longer necessary to buy a container of thousands of pieces of products and send them to Amazon warehouses and hope to sell them.

Print on demand gives us the flexibility to easily add new designs and products without having to worry about storing inventory. The most interesting thing about this is that it does not require a large initial investment.

Here I summarized a guide with a multi-step action plan that you can follow to sell print on demand products on Amazon.com:

Amazon Merch on Demand - Amazon, products on demand.

Amazon Merch on demand is a platform that allows us to create and sell our own t-shirt designs and other products online.

How it works : We create a design, upload it to the platform, select the products we want it to be printed on, set the sales price and that's it. Amazon is responsible for printing the design on the product that the customer has purchased, shipping it and managing all transactions, while you receive a commission for each sale made.

At Amazon Merch on Demand we cannot simply open an account and that's it , we need to apply, show some of the designs that we will sell and Amazon, after reviewing and seeing if they have potential on the platform, decides whether to approve us or not.

I recommend applying only when you have already studied your market, see what type of design you will create since I publish, for example: To people who like surfing. After you create your designs, apply there to have a greater chance of being approved by Amazon.

Step 1:

Sign up for Amazon Seller Central. To get started, you must register with Amazon Seller Central. This is the portal for sellers on Amazon and will allow them to create their store. They must provide contact information, details of their business, and a bank account to receive payments for their sales.

Set up your store Once registered, you must set up your store. In Amazon Seller Central, they must select "Manage your inventory" and then "Add product." Here they must enter product information, such as title, description, images and price. They should make sure that they choose the right category for their product so that customers can find it easily.

Step 2:

Choosing a Print-on-Demand Platform After setting up your store, you need to choose a print-on-demand platform to create and ship your products to customers.

Printful.com and Printify.com They are print-on-demand platforms that allow us to create and sell personalized products without having to maintain inventory. To start using these platforms, we must first create an account on the platform. Then, we have to choose from a wide variety of customizable products, from clothing to home and office accessories, we can customize them with our own designs or use the default designs from Printful and Printify. (I don't recommend using the default designs from Printful and Printify.) Finally, when a sale is made, these companies handle the printing, packaging, and shipping of the product directly to the customer on our behalf, allowing us to focus on creating and promoting our brand and products instead of worrying about logistics and storage.

Step 3:

Create designs for products. Once we have chosen our print on demand platform, I should also mention that we can work with both platforms. For example: I use Printful for the sale of t-shirts, art prints and others, and I use Printify for the sale of pillows, mugs and others.

It's time to create designs for the products you will offer. For this we can use design tools such as:

Canva.com is an online graphic design platform that we can use to create custom designs for print-on-demand products. It is very easy to use since it has a large number of customizable templates and allows us to create unique designs with intuitive design tools. Additionally, Canva.com offers an extensive library of images, icons, and fonts that can be used to create high-quality designs.

One of my favorite marketplaces where I have found AMAZING designs that I have managed to sell on products hundreds of times is CreativeMarket.com .

CreativeMarket.com is an online platform where independent designers can sell their digital designs such as templates, fonts, illustrations, logo designs and more. At CreativeMarket.com we have the ability to purchase custom designs from independent designers and the ease of integrating these designs into print-on-demand products.

Step 4:

Upload designs to the print-on-demand platform. Once we have the designs, we need to upload them to our chosen print on demand platforms. Each platform has its own design upload process, so let's make sure to follow the instructions carefully. Designs must be in the correct format and the quality must be high enough for printing.

Step 5:

Configure prices and logistics. After uploading the designs, we need to set up pricing and logistics on print-on-demand platforms. It is important to ensure that prices are competitive and shipping costs are reasonable. I recommend always offering free shipping and adding the shipping cost to the final sales price. We also need to ensure that shipping times are realistic and that customers know when they can expect to receive their products.

Step 7:

Product description on Amazon. It is essential to have a good description of our products to increase sales possibilities.

  1. We must know our target audience and focus on their needs. Let's think about what matters to them and how the product can help them.

  2. Let's use clear, concise language that is easy to understand and free of technical jargon that could confuse our customers.

  3. Let's highlight the key features of the product and explain how they can be beneficial to our customers. Let's use bullet points to make it more visual and easier to read.

4. Let's include important specifications such as size, weight, dimensions and materials.

5. Let's use relevant keywords that customers might use when searching for the product. This will help the product be found more easily in searches.

7. Let's add high-quality images that show the product from different angles to give a better idea of ​​it.

8. Let's review our description to make sure it is accurate, complete and attractive to customers.

Step 6:

Promote the products.

Amazon is the #1 market in the world so once you start publishing your products correctly you will already be showing the world. Organically it can position itself but we should never relax and expect them to sell themselves. There is much work to be done.  

Depending on the number of products we choose to sell, I always recommend starting with two or three of these products and focusing on creating content such as promotional photos and videos .

Order two products from your favorite print-on-demand platform. They have to be the product that you are going to focus on creating designs on. Whether: T-shirts, mugs, etc. EYE! It must be a blank product that does not have any printed design. This will allow us to create content such as photos and then assemble the designs we want. And the other with the best design we have, this one is printed on the product to be able to make videos and also see the quality of the printing. This way we can work on improving the colors or any other details.

TikTok and Reels on Instagram are excellent tools to promote our products and increase their reach.

  1. Create short, creative videos that showcase your products in an attractive way. Use music and visual effects to make it more attractive.

  2. Create short tutorials that show how to use your products. This will not only help customers understand how to use the product, but also create a way to personally relate to your brand.

  3. Do a challenge with your products. Create a challenge where users have to use your product in a specific way and use hashtags to promote it.

  4. Collaborate with influencers. Work with influencers who have a large following on TikTok or Instagram to promote your products in their videos.

  5. Use paid ads on TikTok and Instagram to reach a wider audience. You can create short video ads that fit the platform's format.

Tip . Create engaging videos on TikTok and Instagram. If you see that one is performing well then invest in advertising for that video. It is a smart and profitable way to promote your products.
